I decided to name this blog "Here I Go Again" because I have had to deal with being overweight most of my life. When I was very young I was extremely skinny. So much so that my parents took me to the doctor to see what was wrong with me. I wouldn't eat much of anything other than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and they worried that something might be wrong. They told me years later that I was so skinny they couldn't even buy pants that would stay on me and they resorted to putting suspenders on my pants so they would stay up. After checking me over pretty carefully, the doctor told my parents that I was fine and that I would eventually learn to eat lots more food. Boy was he ever right! Once I started eating all that good stuff I don't think I ever stopped. Now I'm not saying I was morbidly obese but I remember even as a young preteen that I grew up heavy. They used lots of different names to describe it. Maybe you can relate if you were a baby boomer like I was. I got so I really hated words like "husky", "chunky", "pleasingly plump", or "big boned". I remember when mom would take me shopping before school started and there was actually a section in the store with signs that read "HUSKY" in the boys clothing section. That was me, I guess, husky! There's lots more to tell about those school years but I'll save that for another time.
I'd like to let you know why I'm giving weight loss yet another go 'round in hopes that maybe it will resonate with some of you as well. You see, I am starting this blog with several goals in mind. I want to share experiences from those 'growing up' years which many of you might relate to regarding a "weight problem". (Sounded kind of like a disease when people used to refer to my overweight stature that way.) I also hope that this blog will serve as a kind of 'accountability partner' as I share my losses (and yes, I suppose some gains) with you. I also hope that my stories will help some of you deal with your own weigh loss struggles and that, together, we can help each other become successful this time around.
I should tell you that I joined a weight loss program in early September 2014 and at this writing have been on the program for 5 weeks. Once again, I will go into a lot more detail later on but I will tell you that I chose Weight Watchers and am very pleased that I did. I like the way the program is set up and how they approach things like: monitoring your food intake, increasing your exercise level, staying positive even when the weight isn't dropping as you would like it to, progressing at your own pace, and so forth. I can tell you that I have signed up for weekly meetings, which include the "official" weigh in, and have also paid for the added part of Weigh Watchers which uses on-line tools to help with all sorts of things related to weight loss. As I said, I have been on the program for over 5 weeks and have lost 20.2 pounds. I have noticed changes already in a variety of areas regarding health, stamina, physical movement and even appetite.
Again, this post is an introduction to the blog so I won't go into a lot of detail this first time. I hope you will link to this blogsite and visit it often. It is my intention to post regularly to talk about how I am doing on the program along with anything else that I think you might enjoy hearing about. Thank you for having the interest in this site to stop in and and say "Hi"! My name is Bob and I'm glad to meet you. I hope you will find this site helpful, refreshing, encouraging, and uplifting. Oh yes, and sometimes pretty goofy as well.
As I close this first post I'd like to include a picture from the internet which, I think, says it all. It's a great representation of what a person on a weight loss regimen is really going through. Stop back anytime and be sure to let me know what you think of the posts. I'd love to hear from you. God bless, thank you again for stopping by. Here We Go Again!

We can do this. :)
Awesome for you, Bob!!!
The first thing I always said was, "I don't want to LOSE weight, I want to GET RID of it!" because when I lose something, I look for it til I find it again!
